Carlo Consani is former Professor of General Linguistics at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Chieti-Pescara.

Most of his recent activity has concentrated on historical linguistics and sociolinguistics, dialectology with special regard to Latin and Greek, language variation and change.
